My family moved to the United States from Africa almost ten years ago. It has been a long road becoming adjusted. Sometimes I help my mother make important phone calls because her English is not well developed. I also help clean and do chores around the house. I help look after my younger siblings after school when my mother is at work. I take on parental responsibilities such as making sure they have dinner and ensuring they are prepared for school. I do these things without complaining because I love my mother and I know how hard she works for us.

I love my family so much that words cannot express how much I appreciate them. We might have disagreements, but at the end of the day the love I have for my family is forever.

When it comes to moral character, I get excited because I love helping people. I make it my goal at school to make sure that no child is left behind. I help my fellow classmates with classwork and tutorials. I always try to make time to assist others when they have questions. I love giving advice especially when I believe that it is helpful or worth it. My advice is all about providing friends with the best option for decision making. I know that in order to guide others in the right direction, I have to hold myself at a higher standard.
Every Friday after school, I go to the Masjid, my place of worship, to provide food and other items to the homeless. At the Masjid we are supposed to pray five times a day. Saturday and Sunday we go to the Masjid to learn the words of Allah by reading the Quran. As an Islamic Women, we have to wear the hijab to honor Allah and also as a symbol of showing respect.
My moral character is also shown through my ability to be a role model to my younger brother Mohammed. I try to incorporate him into everything that I do. I make sure that he is always doing what is right. I strive to uphold myself to higher expectations so that my brother will have an example of what is right. I hold my brother accountable to his responsibilities. I do this by making sure he completes his homework, is respectful, and makes good decisions.
